Friends with Benefits

I would like to start this post by saying that my rating on this film is slightly bias as I am firstly a huge fan of Romantic Comedies (Rom-Coms) and secondly love both Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis (both for their own reasons).  As one can only imagine with the preconceived admiration for the combo Friends with Benefits provides, I did greatly enjoy the film. As I am also a huge fan of Jason Segel, when I discovered he had a minor role it made my day.  The minor character inject the humor consistent with Rom-Coms that I like so much. Woody Harrelson plays the sports columnist at GQ and he is a hilarious single gay man on the hunt for fresh meat (excuse the expression). Richard Jenkins (some may recognize as the father from the comedy Step Brothers) plays Justin Timberlake's father in the film; Jenkins provides as much comic relief as he does a tone of seriousness that brings the film down to earth.  Andy Samberg and Emma Stone also make comedic cameos at the beginning of the film.

As a man I consider myself and those I associate to be fashionable dressers, and if I had more money than I knew what to do with I would buy extremely nice clothes. However, I don't remember ever seeing anyone dress as well as Justin Timberlake consistently through out a film. With an array of amazing shoes, blazers, skinny ties, and cardigans, Justin exudes an air of casual richness. Also just in in case anyone didn't know, Mila Kunis is Hot! Yep, shes hot and she knows it and she is still funny and awesome; go figure she may be perfect. The sexual chemistry between Kunis and Timberlake appears natural and is amplified by the landscapes. Both New York and LA are illustrated in a great light, but New York is still pushed as the city of opportunity. The use of running jokes and cleverly crude humor made this a must see Rom-Com. The sex/love hybrid plot though nearly identical to the Ashton + Natalie flick from a couple months ago does not fail to meet expectations.

Movie Rating: 8.0

CRAB Rating: 8.3
